A woman accused of killing a teen nearly 18 years ago returns to fort wayne to face a murder charge.

Today fox 55'sjentill neal talked to the victims family and the detective who made the arrest.

Jentill?

It's a long time coming for stacy degrandchamp' s family.

Her cousin jamie says they are all still in shock.

Now they're just waiting to see if justice will be served.

3 33-year-old holly boisvert is returning to fort wayne.

It's a day stacy vandechamps family was never sure they'd see.

> 09:33:28-09:33:44"we've been waiting for this day to come for so long.

I see now that it's finally happened, we definitely have emotional moments for sure even throughout the day.

Right now it's still sort of a shocking period for us."boisvert is accused of stabbing degrandchamp during an argument in 2002 ... when they were both teens.

Except police never found the knife -- and the case grew cold.

That is until last week when police arrested boisvert in wisconsin.

Detective brian martin has spent the last year making this moment happen for stacy's family.<det.

Brian 09:31:25-09:31:37"i was able to contact everybody that i reached out to.

I was able to get a good phone number for.

2 of the witnesses, within a matter of days came in and gave interviews."but it wasn't until speaking with boisvert, that martin says he had the key piece of evidence needed to make an arrest.

09:33:24-09:33:41"i was able to reinterview holly boisvert several months ago.

During that interview is when she provided a knife and said she believed that's the knife she had back then.

That was an interesting piece of information that came forward."

Now boisvert is headed back to fort wayne to face a murder charge.>"stacy is such a valuable person in our lives.

She's got a large family that misses her dearly.

We have this huge void in our lives and we just want justice now."

This is still a very active case, so detective martin couldn't go into much detail but did say boisvert will be charged as an adult even though she was teen at the time.

I'm told boisvert was picked up in wisconsin this morning and is now in allen county.reporting live jentill neal fox 55 news.
