Waay 31's casey albritton is live at the madison county courthouse.

It's one of the storm shelters here in madison county.

She spoke with the huntsville- madison county emergency management agency about how they're recommending people protect themselves from both the storm and the coronavirus.

The huntsville-madison county e-m-a tells me the imminent threat of a tornado puts you more at risk of danger than if you are surrounded by a lot of people in a storm shelter-- we know the first s-d-a church storm shelter is closed today because of coronavirus... we also know the lincoln county courthouse will not be open as a safe area either.

Other shelters across north alabama and into southern tennessee are requesting that people wear masks before entering.

If we learn any new information about storm shelter availability, we will let you know.
