Enloe launches virtual emergency tool

Enloe Medical Center has launched a new virtual emergency department where patients with urgent care needs can reach a doctor over the phone or through video call.

Checked out by a doctor without ever leaving your house and it's less expensive.

Its all thanks to enloe's new virtual emergency room tool.

It just launched this week, it connects people who may need urgent care with doctors and nurses over the phone or through a video call.

They can even prescribe medicine for you over the phone.

Enloe says, it can also be used to screen people who may be showing symptoms of the coronavirus.

Nurses will advise you whether you should come in or if you're able to be seen virtually.

I spoke with one doctor who says they've already helped many patients through this new tool.

I had a patient call in earlier about a pink eye, it was just a phone conversation but her symptoms sounded like pink eye, and the treatment is standard, antibiotic drops and a work excuse we were able to provide that for the patient in the comfort of her home.

Dr. sandhu says another advantag is that this will be a lower bil* than a typical emergency room visit.

Enloe says this has been in the works for a while, but they accelerated the process because of the coronavirus, to protect people from possible exposure.

The line is open 7 days a week from 9 am to 9 pm.
