Oregon Institute of Technology loaned eight ventilators to Asante,

Ventilators have become a must for hospitals in the fight against the corona virus.

Asante rogue regional medical center is getting some help in that department from oregon tech.

Kelly angel from asante and ashley event essence from oregon tech.

Join us now.

Thanks very much for being with us tonight.

Kelly, how did this partnership come to be.

We began talking about our ventilator needs.

I know that oit has quite a fleet of ventilator devices ever at their respiratory therapy program, and we have a really good collaboration between a santana and oit.

So i reached out to them and asked if there was a chance we could borrow those ventilators if we got into the need of needing more ventilators.

And they immediately agreed and we started working on our contract to define all that out, and now we're ready to transfer those ventilators over to ro over to assate.

Kelly, real quickly, are you saying that you need those ventilators?

Are you stockpiling them in case you need the middle later date?

We're keeping them on hand for a needed later date.

Right now we're doing okay with ventilators, but we still are projecting a need increased volume.

So.

Absolutely aware.

Did oit end up with these ventilators and are they traditional ventilators or is there something all your fancy engineers over there have come up with?

These are ventilators that, um, because of investments from our donors and our administration.

Uh, we have pretty similar or the same ventilators that are used within hospitals.

So we pride ourselves on having the same exact equipment so that our students are working on the same machines that then when they go to the field in the hospital, they'll be on the exact same ones.

So that actually proved itself in this situation.

So sky lakes and a santee were able to borrow the same types of equipment that they already currently use.

How many ventilators are we talking about?

We had about 26 that we have available for loan today.

A sanjay picked up eight and then skylights picked up some others last week.

Kelly.

Angel, can you describe what imns for yourdepartment, kd reassurance that we're going to have plenty of ventilators that throughout a santa fe, um, all three facilities that we'll be able to support the ventilator needs, we'll be able to allocate ventilators to ashland or three rivers medical center if they have an increased need there as well.

So all of the ventilators that we're bringing over from hawaii are ones that we currently use throughout a santee.

Kelly, i guess the question i would have is if you have the physical machines there, do you have the respiratory therapist and the nurses and all the tech on the support staff required to keep that sophisticated piece of equipment?

Not only running, but helping folks who may at some point need them?

Uh, we are pretty well staffed right now.

I'm anticipating.

For an increase of a need, both nursing and risk trey staff, and i've been bringing on additional staff through a travel support, travel, respiratory therapist and travel nursing staff.

So we've got our staff pretty well, um, brought up two numbers that we would need.

Kelly, given that, i would assume hospitals all over the country need those skilled folks as well.

Have you had any trouble tracking those people down and getting them into our area?

It's been some work, but we've got the staff that we need at this point.

Um, so we've been working on it for quite awhile actually, so we were proactive and thinking ahead and at least from the rest of the therapy department, we've been bringing in staff for a little while now.

Prepare for this.

Well, kelly, angel and ashley, vanessa, we appreciate your coming to us this evening and your partnership.

Let's hope we don't need those ventilators on either end, but thank you very much.

Great to know they're there.

Thank you.

Thank you.
