Four County is even holding virtual support group meetings for essential workers.

That many people are struggling with.

News 18's anna darling talked with those at four county to learn how they are continuing to provide support for mental health and addiction.

When the coronavirus struck, leaders at four county had to adjust.

"virtually all of our services, whether that's therapy, case management type services, medication clinic, any of those things are done by phone or video conference if the person has the ability" bethany shoenradt says this has actually helped some avenues of support to flourish.

"our celebrate recovery group that runs out of a church in logansport mentioned that they had triple the amount of individuals participating in that support group virtually" she says they are keeping a close eye on how the covid-19 pandemic impacts the opioid epidemic.

"individuals who already had a mental health disorder and or addiction certainly are at risk for relapse whether that's a relapse of mental health or addiction."

Consistency is key for staying on the road to recovery.

"if thy attended a group three times a week and had individual therapy for example then they are getting a contact four times on four different days" these are stressful times for many.

"it's perfectly normal to have an increased sense of anxiety right now" including those who are essential workers.

"we're doing virtual support groups for all essential workers.

For all those individuals who are working in the hospitals, in retail, in the food service industry all those things, we're very appreciative of those essentiale know that it can be long hours and lots of taxing things."

She hopes anyone who is struggling will reach out to for help.

"if you need access to any resource, whether its mental health or housing or employment assistance or any of that, a community metal health center, that's something we're really good at is linking people to resources" anna darling news 18 (shen-rod) shoenradt says they are working to expand the essential worker support group to the other counties they serve.
