State of Indiana set to conduct study, Vigo County will play a part

But first....hoosier leaders announce news that could impact people right here in vigo county.
The indiana state department of health has partnered with i-u-p-u-i for a new study.
This study aims to bring a better understanding of who has covid-19 "or" who previously ha it and now has antibodies.
News 10's dominic miranda joins us now.
He has more on the logistics of this study and how "vigo county" will play a role.
Pk} this groundbreaking study will test 5 to 7 thousand randomly selected individuals across the state.
There will be sampling at 8 fixed drive thru sampling sites.
Vigo county is home to one of those sites.
Dr. nir menachemi is the fairbanks schools chair of public health.
He explained how this will work.
V} like i said, randomly selected individuals over the age of 12 in each district will be contacted by the indiana state health department.
Menachemi says this is to get an accurate representative sample and draw conclusions of covid-19'impact by district, sex, race, and ethnicity.
Each selected individual will be asked to volunteer their participation.
Those who agree will have a nasal swab done to test for active covid-19 infection... and have blood drawn for antibody testing.
Both dr menachemi and dr box says this study is vital to stop the spread of covid-19 and will provide critical information.
If you are selected, they ask that you seriously consider participating.
So} dr. kristina box indiana state health commissioner "we need your help to make sure that the data that we receive accurately reflects indiana's population as we use it in decision making for our state."
Do} wave 1 of this testing will begin on saturday and go through next wednesday.
Again, a drive thru testing location will be in vigo county.
Only those contacted by the state health department will be able to participate.
