Now to an update on a testing program that aims to keep track of covd-19's spread in lane county's vulnerable population.

On monday we told you the program was just getting off the ground at the temporary homeless shelters.

But as kezi 9 news reporter michael sevren shows us.... now more than half of them have been tested.

Stand up leader at lane county public health tell me a total of 90 people have been tested so far for covid-19 at the temporary homeless shelters here at the lane events center behind me and in springfield.

But their goal is to test them all.

County health officals say they still need to test 70 people at the shelters.

They are offering them incentives like socks and other goods to volunalrity get it done.

This is all part of the county's sentinel testing program.

It's goal is to collect a sample size from vulnerable population to better understand covid-19's spread in those communities.

That data will allow them to focus their response.

Stuart anderson has been staying at shelter since it opened.

He's grateful for the opportunity to get tested.

County health officals say they plan to expand the program to other shelters in the comming days.
