A local restaurant has closed its doors abruptly just days after the city lifted its ban on dine-in establishments managers saying the move in an abundance of caution to keep restaurant employees and customers safe.

Kq2's ron johnson joining us live now from the la mesa mexican restaurant with more on this tonight, ron?

That's right alan i spoke with the owners of the this restaurant earlier today, they say although the closure here is temporary that doesn't make this any less heartbreaking.

<<ron johnson reporting, just days after the city's ban was lifted, one area restaurant has closed its doors once again.

We prefer to be safe for the employees for the customers also.staff at lamesa making the announcement on social media that their restaurant will be closed throughout mother's day weekend and into next week.

The restaurant's owners said many reasons lead to the decision the first of which was customers not able to maintain social distancing which got the attention of higher ups in the company.

A lot of people don't respect the social distancing, they don't want the same issue for mother's day.

Second, they said many of the employees have close ties to those who work at triumph foods, and with the hundreds of cases confirmed there they didn't want to take any chances.

30-40% of the employees are related to somebody at triumph.

Finally, they say a relative of one of the employees has tested positive for the virus.

The managers say they'll be testing all employees, before they reopen once again with social distancing efforts in place.

In the restaurants we follow really high guidelines to keep it safe always.

In the meantime, management says they will be deep cleaning the restaurant and kitchen areas, they say they're taking these guidelines seriously and they're urging customers to do the same.

It's a new life we are living right now and that's going to be the new normal life for us.>> now the la mesa will be in effect for about a week to give the employees' test results to plan to reopen next friday.
