Government virologists don’t know ‘an elephant from a mouse’

Professor Richard Tedder of Imperial College London says that he is “not aware that the Government have anybody in their panel of experts who understands virology sufficiently well to know an elephant from a mouse in terms of antigens”.

Public Health England has approved a Covid-19 antibody test developed by Swiss pharmaceutical company Roche.

Professor Tedder from Imperial’s Department of Infectious Disease is leading a project to develop a test which could be used to diagnose people who have had Covid-19.
