Pet Shelter
Cara Campbell joins us to talk about adopting pets during the pandemic.

Shelter about fostering parents during the pandemic.

?

>> reporter: pet adoption is something that maybe you didn't think about during the coronavirus but now that we're going through it, you have thought about adopting a pet.

Joining us tonight is carra from friends of the animal shelter and gracey, welcome, guys.

>> hi.

>> tell us about gracey, we understand that she needs a new home.

>> yes, gracey is about a year old.

Give or take a couple of months.

She ask a pit mix.

Hey.

She is the most loveable dog.

We've been hanging out for a little while.

She likes to be pet on and big fan of tummy rubs.

She has been at the shelter for a while.

It's important for her to find a good home.

She is said to be good with cats and other dogs but if you have dogs we recommend a meet and greet to make sure everybody gets along and good with kids.

Has a lot of energy.

She will need a place that's willing to take her out for exercise and play a few games of fetch in the back yard or whatever your choice of activities may be but she is a good dog, said to be house broken.

Always a, mr. it is' -- always take time for pets to adjust.

A lot of things going on with this girl.

>> tell us about the process of pet adopting is working in this pandemic.

>> so right now, the shelter is closed to the public.

But you can make appointments for adoptions.

You know, if you were to want to adopt gracey, what we'd recommend is you go on-line on the website.

That is pet for you.com and fill out an adoption application.

Then the shelter will contact you for a time to come down and kind of get to know her and just complete all the paperwork to take her home but she is already spayed and vetted so she is ready to go.

>> if people are looking for an animal right now, it's a good time to train them.

Is there a place they can go on the website and pick out a pet then set up the appointment for a permanent visit?

>> sure.

-- permanent visit.

>> they are -- permanent visit.

>> we're good about keeping the face book page.

If you are on face book check out friends of the animal shelter of st.

Joseph.

There are photo photos on there that say adoptable dogs and cats.

You can find on the pet for you website where it stays adoptable pets.

>> a few of the fund raisers have been cancelled due to the virus but tell us what you are doing virtually.

>> sure.

So like you mentioned we have have to miss out on a few fund-raising opportunity.

It's a good time as we go from the wags to wishes campaign for a new shelter.

We want to make up for lost time and there be other shelters across the country that have been sharing an idea where if you make a donation, and submit a photo of your pet you'll get a hand drawn portrait in return.

That's what we're doing right now.

You can either donate through the website or through our facebook page.

We ask that you e-mail proof of donation and a photo of your pet to fofat pet portraits@g mail dot-com.

Give us a few days.

You'll receive a hand drawn picture of your pet.

We have great artists sharing our time with us.

>> carra campbell, thank you, and thank gracey
