"i am past politics, i am trying to do the right thing.

Having a confederate monument on court house grounds or in the rotunda is not the right thing.

Should have done it long ago, bit let's get rid of them now."

Kentucky's governor weighing in tonight over the debate on confederate statutes.

This after a controversial monument in louisville was removed -- monday morning.

A jefferson circuit court judge ruling late-friday -- that the city had the right to move the monument.

And in frankfort- that statue of jefferson davis will likely be removed from the capital rotunda .

The bluegrass native -- was the president of the confederacy during the civil war.

And previous attempts to take the davis statue down have failed.

One of those was in 20-15 --- after the murders of nine black church members in south carolina.

The state historic properties advisory committee voted to keep the statue.

However --- in 20-18 a plaque on the monument that called davis a hero and a patriot was removed.

Governor andy beshear now calling for the monument's removal from the capital building.

"i believe the jefferson davis statue is a symbol that divides us.

And even if there are those that think it a part of history, there should be a better place to put it in historical context."
