As cases rise across our area, some business owners are bracing for the possibility of a second shutdown.

Rise across our area---what could it mean for businesses opening back up?

Action news now reporter karen alvarez spoke to a local thrift store owner and tells us how a second shutdown would impact her business.

Reporter looklive: co-owner of r & j thrift store here in red bluff---jeanine mcnamara---tells me that she had to close up shop for more than two months.

But--- it's not business as usual--- sot(jeaning mcnamara, co- owner, r & j thrift store, red bluff): i have hand sanitizer, i have gloves, if somebody wants gloves and i just keep an eye on them.

Mcnamara opened her shop a couple of weeks ago.

Since reopening--- business has slowly started picking up.

So the thought of another possible shutdown would be devastating.

Sot(jeanine mcnamara, co- owner, r & j thrift store, red bluff): it would crush me because i don't think we could make it again, i really don't.

While closed--- the thrift store received plenty of donations that's kept their business going---- sot(jeaning mcnamara, co- owner of r & j thrift store, red bluff): because people were at home, and they were wanting something to do they were bored so they've held something for so long and now want to get rid of it and move on with life.

Tehama county public health says as more businesses reopen---it's important that shops like r & j thrift store stick to following safety guidelines---- sot(michelle schmidt, supervising public health nurse, tehama county): so as long as those business are abiding by those principles, at this point in time as i've shared before we have a lot of data markers to identify how we are doing as a community.

Health officials say a rise in recent cases in the county is not a cause for alarm---the more people get tested---the better idea public health has what's going on in the community sot(michelle schmidt, supervising public health nurse, tehama county): at this point in time, we're going to continue to moving forward and opening more things.

With businesses like r &j thrift shop moving forward--- there's still a lot that has to be done--- sot (jeaning mcnamara, co- owner of r & j thrift store, red bluff): people have to be more cautious about what they're doing and everything because now they know what they're doing and facing&.it's not over.
