Protests continue into the holiday weekend
-- and many are questioning what the holiday means.
This comes as the country grapples with a history of racism brought to the forefront by recent black lives matter protests.
And those protests have continued into the holiday weekend.
Tonight -- the black unity activist group led a couple hundred protesters from west-more-lind park -- to west 25th avenue and friendly street where speeches were made.
They stopped a few other times to give protesters a chance to sit and hear from different speakers.
Police we're following behind at a safe distance.
One protester we spoke with says -- this holiday weekend is especially important for the black lives matter movement.
"i think that this is what it means to be american.
This is how this country moves forward is movements like this.
I think that everyone is risking something here, to be out here given the pandemic makes it even more inceedible that there is such a show of support."
Organizers say they're also fighting for justice for one of their members -- isiah wagoner.
The man who was hit during a children's march just last sunday.
At last check - they're still marching and things have remained peaceful.
