Decatur Mask Discussion
Face mask ordinance, not voted on .

A fine.

Madison county is not the first in north alabama to discuss a mandatory mask order but, it is the first to put one in place!

The decatur city council discussed a mandatory masking ordinance at a work session last night but didn't vote on it.

Waay31s sierra phillips is live with why the council said they didn't vote on the proposed ordinance, sierra?

Decatur city council members said they didn't have the time because there was so much else to discuss at their regularly scheduled meeting.

Last night at the work session, the council discussed having the ordinance expire after 30 days and adding more exceptions.

The discussion was already pushed a week because the council said it needed to go over the ordinance and consider public opinion.

One person at the meeting said she didn't mind that they postponed the decision.

Chiriga vinson however, i do understand the seriousness of this issue and i think it's the responsibility of the city council to weigh all options as far as this mask ordinance is concerned."."

Not everyone agreed-- some told us action needs to happen sooner rather than later.

Right now, that proposed ordinance is still under review and it's not clear when or if it will be voted on.
