Megan Reyna spoke with campground owners near Decatur where she learned how they're keeping campers safe during this pandemic.

To contact them, traveling this summer isn't an option for a lot of people because of coronavirus.

Some are choosing to go camping instead.

Waay31's megan reyna spoke to campground owners near decatur ... where she learned how they're keeping campers safe during this pandemic.

Nats jeremy says:"you know social distancing is relatively easy out here."

In december -- alley and jeremy baldwin purchased this 95 acre campground -- only to face just a global pandemic three months later.

Jeremy says:"for about 2 weeks we had a lot of cancellations and alley and i looked at each other and said uh-oh, what's going to happen?"

It didn't take long however -- for people to be sick of staying indoors.

Jeremy says:"people rebounded pretty quickly and realized wait this is a campground, this is the place we do want to be."

But of course new protocols are in place.

You can check in remotely -- meaning you won't even have to interact with employees.

Nats megan says:"but if you do decide to come into the office and gift shop employees will be wearing masks, and provide them to you for free."

Jeremy says:"we had hundreds of masks that we prepared to give everyone, but one thing that we noticed was some people would show up already with masks in hand."

There are areas of the camp ground that do see a lot of traffic -- this includes the bathrooms. two of which have showers.

Alley says:"we clean our bathrooms, pretty much, well sometimes even twice a day, which we are rigorously checking our bathrooms all the time."

The baldwin's say they have even designated two employees to bathroom cleaning duties -- to ensure its always sanitary.

Nats and with all these extra precautions -- the couple is hopeful their first summer as campground owners proves to be successful.

Jeremy says:"between, that and the masks and open spaces, we feel pretty safe and so does everyone else."

Mr waay 31 news the owners add they've noticed more and more people utilizing r-v's because that way they won't
