Hamilton County Covid-19 cases

The Health Dept. talks about a record number of new cases.

Department announced a new record high for positive covid-19 cases.

Today, a record breaking one hundred and seventy-five new covid-19 cases were reported by the hamilton county health department.

Today is also the highest seven day average of active cases.

The hamilton county covid task force announced today is the highest number of covid patients in hamilton county hospitals at 74.

Total there are fourteen hundred and eight active cases in the county.

"yesterday we tested one day record for us of nine hundred and sixty-eight people at east brainerd highschool and today we've tested over a thousand."

The health department says test results are now taking 3 to 4 days because of increased testing across the state.

Previously, taking up to two days to get results back.

"the lab we're using is adding additional capacity and we expect to be back to our short turn around time by the twenthieth of the month."

This afternoon they released a zip code chart from today's new covid-19 cases..

"the cases are widespread, and we do not want anyone to think their address protects them."

The health department and the covid-19 task force says they are pleased to see the public following the mask mandate.

"we still have masks, free masks to giveaway to the public and we also have asked for a hundred thousand more for the state so we should have plenty of masks to distribute."

The covid-19 task force announced a new symptom survey as an early detection tool for the community that will be available on their website.

"it's going to help educate the public about symptoms and what covid related symptoms look like.

And also, provide some resources after the case takes you through it to find out next steps.

Data is going to be anonymous and we're going to summarize it up to the zip code level."
