In Redding, a rally in support of law enforcement took place outside Redding City Hall, Saturday afternoon.

Took place outside city hall.

Action news now reporter karen alvarez was there at that rally.

A lot of people coming out to this rally being called 'back the blue' that took place outside city hall.

Vo: <<back the blue, back the blue, and honking > hundreds of people coming out to redding city hall---to show appreciation and support for local law enforcement.

Many of them dressed in blue, holding up signs, flags.

Some wearing their masks.

There was even a flag that people could sign which i'm told will go to redding police department for them to display.

People i spoke to tell me the rally is meant to thank not only law enforcment, but also first responders who put their life on the line everyday.

Sot(jay williams, lives in redding): this goes to show that a lot of our citizens support the people that protect us, day and night, our children, our schools, everything we have we ow to the police force and the people that protect us.

Sot(kent hiemforth, lives in redding): they have so much bad rap lately because of everything that's going on, they need the encouragement, they need to kudos per say to keep them going strong.

After gathering for a bit outside city hall, demonstrators took to the streets, linining cypress avenue to continue showing their appreciation.

Reporter live: this rally stayed prtty peaceful.
