48 Hospital Employees Test Positive For Covid-19

48 hospital employees at Decatur-Morgan hospital have tested positive for Covid-19.

The president of decatur morgan hospital announced 45 employees are out after testing positive for coronavirus.

She says her staff is overwhelmed and tired - but she's hoping things will look up soon.

President kelly powers told us the staff members did not contract the virus from being at the hospital.

She says most of the time - the cases come from the community - and employees get it from a spouse... friend or child.

Powers says though they have so many out - they're finding ways to make sure there are no holes in the staffing.

She said they've been rotating shifts.

But powers' biggest concern is still that people may be putting off care if they need help.

She's reminding people it's still safe to come to the hospital if you have to.

"please come to the hospital if you have anything.

We're taking every precaution so we don't spread covid," powers says hopefully the mask mandate helps bring numbers down but it's on an individual to do the right thing.

Right now there are 30 coronavirus in-patients at decatur
