That news comes just hours after governor kay ivey extended the state's safer at home order.

It now runs through august 31-st.

She also added another caveat to the state's mask order.

Now - students in second grade and above must wear a mask while in the classroom.

Thanks for joining us - i'm dan shaffer.

And i'm najahe sherman.

Wearing masks will be mandatory until the end of august, but the question is, is it really being enforced.

Waay31's breken terry is live at the florence police department after speaking with them about it , breken?

Lorence police tell me since the governor enacted the mask order they've only had about seven complaints, but haven't issued any citations because it hasn't risen to that level yet.

Police told me when they would get these complaints they'd go and speak with the individuals and educate them on the order plus give them a mask.

Florence police said so far they've seen a lot of people comply with the mask order.

Ivey said during her press conference today that the mask mandate was made not to be enforced.

<the mask mandate was not made to penalize people but to inform them of the urgency and importance wearing a face mask can provide in slowing down this pandemic.

> sheriff's in lauderdale and colbert counties said they haven't issued any citations either, but are taking complaints and educating people on what the mask order says.
