Project legacy is a program to meet the needs of youth of color in the community who struggle with a lack of resources and support to help them reach their full potential.

Help students with their online schooling is becoming a popular option across the country... but what about students whose families can't afford the help?
Kimt news 3's annalise johnson is learning about a program hoping to help fill that gap.

Project legacy is a program to meet the needs of youth of color in the community who struggle with a lack of resources and support to help them reach their full potential.
Through this door ?*- small groups of students who are a part of program will be meeting to learn together.
These rooms have been sanitized and cleaned ?
"* and will soon have study tables for students to work with tutors and licensed teachers.
Akoy marial will be one of the tutors and peer mentors helping youth with their school work.
The concept is called a learning pod ?
"* a group of a few students working together with an instructor on their distance learning materials.
Distance learning this past spring was a struggle for the project legacy youth ?
"* so the hope is the learning pods will help make sure students are keeping up in class.
We are trying really hard to make sure these kids are going to do very well in school because we know how hard it gets, so making sure they have a support system outside of their homes and making sure they know we're here to help them with school, or whatever they need if you'd like to help support t education of project legacy students ?

There will also be a school supply drive for the fall soon.

School districts are expecting virtual learning disruptions to happen and have plans to communicate with parents.
The YMCA of Greater Kansas City wants to be there for families struggling to balance work and their children's virtual schooling.
