While some Black Lives Matter advocates are calling on the Lane County District Attorney's office to drop charges against those allegedly involved in May's riot, the DA's office said it plans to prosecute property-related crimes among others.

Threats.

Following up on the 13 arrests related to that riot in may-- the lane county d-a's office says it plans to prosecute those individuals despite push back from some advocates.

Kezi 9 news reporter chris lueneburg is live downtown with what he learned from the d-a today.

Chris?

Matt, renee-- a local b-l-m group posted this call to arms yesterday-- asking supporters to contact the d-a's office and request all charges be dropped... but today... a top prosecutor says they're not backing down.

Prosecutor chris parosa says the office has gotten a handful of calls in regards to this post... he said the d-a will prosecute cases of property damage, theft and personal confrontation... while some activists say this is a repression of black voices-- parosa believes that everybody's constitutional rights need to be defended.

I don't know that it's helpful to blatantly say that all cops are bastards and things of that nature or to say that people's property rights should be ignored in favor of your ability to go out and protest and destroy property.

This as the eugene police department continues searching for information on more than 60 additional suspects-- of the 13 that e-p- d says have been arrested-- the d-a was not able to tell us how many of those cases they have chosen to file.
