Educators say this will help close the accessibility gap to make sure all students have the power to learn.

Wiped down after every session.

With school about to start... eugene's 4j district wants to make sure students have the right devices to learn online.

They started distributing laptops and tablets to all 16-thousand students today -- hoping to bridge some of the accessibility gap between families.

Kezi 9 news reporter emma jerome spoke with some faculty and families about how they're feeling with school beginning in just a matter of weeks.

Anna wellman: " it's great to see our returning students..

It's been about 5 and a half months since we've seen them.

A lot of them have changed and grown quite a bit so it's nice catching up with them" and this is the last time faculty will see these kids for at least a while now that school is starting online sun saeteurn: "i keep on reminding myself that none of us have been through this before so i think it's just another reminder to be super empathetic -- super flexible."' the district encourages every family to pick up a device --- even if you have plenty of computers.

Buffy ritchie: " i mean we're just going to have the best attitude we can and mae the best out of it.

I'm going to do the best i can while i'm working -- and hopefully he can just have a better time this fall than he did in the spring because it won't be as new" emma jerome: " over 16 thousand students in the district -- an at home learning device available for every single one.

A move educators say helps close the accessibililty gap and offers more support to families during this time" ipads for middle schoolers... chrome books for high schoolers but considering internet is not universally accessible it begs the question of access and if this is possible for all families chris mitchell "the district is providing hot spots ...to families who either don't have adequate wireless at home to cover multiple devices or just don't live in a space where they have good access" and with access comes the power to learn.
