Landslide blocks road after heavy rain in the Philippines

Workers repair a mountain road after a landslide caused by heavy rain and storms blocked traffic.

Large boulders and soil tumbled down the hillside which has been weakened by tropical storms in Bukidnon province, the Philippines.

Peter Estrada was travelling home with friends when they passed by the massive landslide on August 22.

He said the rain may have caused the erosion as there was heavy downpour in the area the night before.

Peter said: "It was scary to look at because of the huge rocks that fell.

Luckily, no one passes here in the night because it is dangerous." No one was reportedly hurt from the landslide, and the local government office has deployed workers for the clearing of the rocks obstructing the road.

Southeast Asia is currently going through its annual rainy season lasting from May until October.
