The West Lafayette Mad Mushroom Location is back open after an employee faked a positive COVID-19 test.

David Sommers is the owner of Mad Mushroom; he says an employee told them they were positive with COVID-19 over the weekend.

Confirmed the false test.

"i've been angrier very few other times in my life."-david sommers david sommers is the owner of mad mushroom..

He says an employee told them they were positive with covid-19 over the weekend.

"our employee sent us a text message with screen shots from vault health saying that they had tested positive on saturday night."-sommers immediately following the employees text..

The restaurant closed.

"we closed early saturday night missed the first monday before classes and the first monday of classes and we are just ramping up today to get back on track."- sommers but it wasn't until they reached out to the tippecanoe county health department that they realized the employee was lying.

"on monday it was determined by the health department that we could not verify at all that mad mushroom had a positive employee and so that's why we are allowing them to re- open."-khala hochstedler that determination..prompt ed the restaurant to take a second look at the screen shots sent by the employee.

"when we started to examine the screen shot a little closer and found the discrepancies in the small print to show that it was a forged document."-sommers the health department says..

Employers should always double check with them... if an employee claims to be positive..

Because they have records of all positive people in the county.

"it's usually the other way around the health department typically is notifying the business that they have a positive employee.

"- khala hochstedler which is why sommers says..

Other businesses should always double check..

What their employees are telling them.

"trust them..

But verify and you know do the procedures that are right for your business."-sommers.

Sommers says the employee that sent the fake documents is a purdue stent..

He believes the student was able to photo shop a document that was sent to them for their initial covid-19 test they took upon starting classes at purdue.
