Fort Wayne Councilmen looking for answers on Electric Works Project

Good evening i'm hunter petroviak.thanks for joining us.tonight..two fort wayne city councilmen looking for answers on the electric works project.councilman tom didier and glenn hynes are calling on mayor tom henry and other city leaders for reasons the electric works project was canned.fox 55's chris mullooly is live in fort wayne.chris..

You spoke with councilman didier..what did he have to say about what they're working on doing??hunter..

Councilman didier says if mayor henry and other city leaders don't provide answers... a subpeona would force them too.the sudden reversal of the electric works project... days after developers announced they secured funding from its anchor tenant...is leaving some city council members and their constituents frustrated.

My constituents want to know what happened and we need to 3 fix itits the message councilman tom didier says he and council glynn hines are pushing for.why was the electric works project ... at the 12th hour... shut down.its basically to get to the bottom fo what happened the whole redevelopment reasoning how they voted why they voted and move forwardthe two councilman are asking for answers after the fort wayne re development commission terminated the electric works agreement in early august.councilmembers on the commission said rtm ventures... the developer behind the project didn't secure the necessary funding in time..

After a number of extensions.didier says right before the meeting..

Rtm had announced they secured its main anchor tenant... do it best... and were close to getting all the loans and details in place.you cant just shove this thing undr the rug its not going awaydidier says the mayor hasn't been trasparent...the mayors office sent a statement saying in part "the mayor and members of his leadership team are currently looking at multiple options and talking with business and community leaders to get feedback on possible next steps moving forward.

"didier and hines say if henry... the deputy mayor karl bandemer and others don't show up to tuesdays council meeting... they'll present an ordinance that would subpeona the necessary information.no one is really going over the project why they turned it down maybe a couple phone calls didier suspects the problem is the developers relationship with key city leaders...but says that doesn't justify shutting down one of the biggest projects in the history of fort wayne...if you dont want to work with them but thats why i hope we can work with the county for an inter loocal agreement and hopefully the mayor doesn't turn that one down didier did say nancy townsend is coming down tuesday with hafner to discuss the project... townsendis the director of the fort wayne redevelopment commission... but was only promoted to the title a week ago.didier says the other problem is the anchor tenant do it best.he doesn't want to see them leave the area..

Which would be a tremendous loss to allen county..

Because of the problems they've seen with the electric works project.
