Hunt Family Housing

Lynette Hegeman from Hunt Family Housing tells us all about the efforts they provide for military families, especially now during the pandemic.

Families.

Not only that, but i think for the children, a lot of them are feeling a little bit out of their element and wanting to have something special to make them feel like they are actually going to school.

So in these backpacks, we're putting pens and pencils and pencil bags and rulers and binders and paper and spiral notepads, just everything that they could need, even if they are at home or if they're actually going into class.

Tara wheeler: so if someone wants to help support and donate some items for the backpack or for the families who want to register to maybe receive one, where do we go for information on that?

Lynette hegeman: they could actually contact me through hunt heroes foundation or operation homefront.

And we are happily collecting any other donations.

There have been some very generous companies in the various regions that we serve, that have contacted us and asked to be able to donate as well.

So we take any donations if anybody has them.

Tara wheeler: that's awesome.

What more can you tell me about the hunt heroes foundation?

Because the backpack brigade is just one of the many ways that you all support your military families.

Lynette hegeman: that's right.

So we believe there's three specific areas that we want to support our military families.

And so it's through education and we provide scholarships every year to military children of active service members.

We also believe in health and wellness and so we do programs like... and remembrance.

Wear blue and red to remember, stop soldier suicide, and this year we added another project to our portfolio, which is tunnel to towers.

Lynette hegeman: and we're working to provide either ada compliant homes to military members who've been injured, or we're actually working to give a home to a family who maybe has lost a loved one in the military and their family needs a home.

Tara wheeler: that's so incredible.

Lynette hegeman: so with these three different buckets, we're able to really touch very specific areas that affect our military families.

And we work to make a difference.

And so we are working on another big event that's going to happen in november.

We're going to do a virtual run, where we're looking to raise some funds to continue to be able to provide special services like the backpack brigade and other services that we want to be able to offer.

Tara wheeler: and where can we go to find more information about a run when it comes out and just the hunt heroes foundation in general?

Lynette hegeman: you can go to huntheroesfounda tion.org, and we will have all of the great information up there.

And if there's any... i think hawaii still have some backpacks left.

And so they are still having registrations as well.

Tara wheeler: all right.

Well,
