The mayor of Aberdeen said a Georgia-based company is moving operations to the town in Monroe County, creating new jobs.

Mayor maurice howard says a company called enviro-builders wants to move in.

The mayor says he signed a contract with the company this afternoon to move into the building.

"i'm intending on more than a one and fifty, but i know that at least starting off there is going to be more than a hundred and fifty jobs."

Aberdeen mayor maurice howard says enviro-builders is coming to aberdeen to build a special type of product.

"and what the company does is that they create something called smart steel.

That goes into zero net energy homes.

So its sort of a steel plant so to speak.

But its something different like you've never seen before."

They also say even during this pandemic they are looking to push forward and to continue to grow."

"its unfortunate that there is a pandemic that the world is faced with.

And at the same time a lot of business owners are not looking to grow .

But this owner understands what it is he brings to the city of aberdeen and to our entire region."

Mayor howard thanked the monroe county board of supervisors and others for helping to make the jobs possible.

He also says that the company will have jobs starting at fourteen to eighteen dollars an hour which he says is a competitive wage for the region.
