Shasta County Public Health rescinds flu shot mandate

Shasta County rescinded its flu shot mandate for healthcare workers.

The county made the decision after hearing concerns from both the Board of Supervisors and local workers.

-- now rescinding it's flu shot mandate for health care workers.

Action news now reporter ana torrea joins us live, ana why did the county make the change?

And are other counties following suit?

Shasta county made this decision after hearing concerns from both the board of supervisors.

And local health care workers here in the county.

And tehama county public also issued a mandatory "flu shot requirement" according to the order issued by public health: every health care facility in tehama county is ordered to require all health care workers to get the flu shot.

But i spoke with one health care worker from red bluff.

He tells me: while he's not anti-vaccine.

He supports the rights of personal choice.

My goal is personal choice and having the freedom to choose the vaccines and the things that we feel we stand behind and we agree with their efficacy.

The order also states: it remains a top priority for health care workers to get vaccinated during the coronavirus pandemic.

I did reach out to tehama county public health multiple times today... for further comment on their flu shot mandate.

But i have not yet heard back.
