Indiana indiana state police is investigating an early morning high speed chase that ended with gunfire in vermillion county.

Good evening and thank you for joining us for news 10 on my fox 10.

According to state police... a vigo county sheriff's deputy tried to stop a car near 3rd street and margaret drive in terre haute around 4:30 this morning.

The deputy says the driver was speeding and would not stop.

A chase -- with speeds up to a hundred and 20-miles per hour -- continued into vermillion county up state road 63.

Officers with other agencies got ahead of the chase and deployed "stop-sticks."

Police say the driver hit the sticks before shooting out a window at officers.

The suspect kept driving but eventually lost control near an exit ramp of state road 63 at highway 36.

Police say the suspect shot at officers again.

They shot back -- hitting the suspect.

We spoke with i-s-p sergeant matt with i-s-p sergeant matt ames.

He says the suspect in this case is "omaree shay roby" of wisconsin.

Roby was taken to a local hospital before being flown to indianapolis for treatment.

No officers were hit.

3:09-3:22 "one thing that's good about this whole police chase and everything is that there was a lot of communication around all the officers that were involved in it making sure that they were taking care of each other and taking care of the public."

Police say roby was driving a stolen car from evansville, indiana.

Officers involved in this incident have been placed on administrative leave as is protocol.

Sergeant ames says investigators will submit a report to the vermillion county prosecutor's office
