one person dead on route 12

One man is dead after being hit by 2 cars on the Route 12 South Bound on-ramp in Utica.

According to Police, this happened at around 8 PM Saturday night.

A fatal accident to tell you about tonight!

Utica police say a man was hit by a car on the route 12 south access ramp, and they were hit again by another car.

This is your top story tonight at 11.

This happened near the entrance of the walmart around 8 o clock tonight.

Utica police say he was hit once by a vehicle, who feld the scene.

They tells us that individual was hit by another vehicle who did stop.

Police say pedestrians are not allowed to walk on route 12 or any of the access ramps.

But they're still investigating exactly what happened.

They're askign for your help identifying the vehicle that fled the scene.

"we're interviewing individuals who have come onto to the scene, as the individual was lying in the roadway their are no direct eye witnesses yet.

So anyone with information we're asking them to contact the utica police department at 315-223-3464.

The ramp is currently closed via walmart and the 790 access.

Anywhere downtown on 12 south.

It's going to be closed for quite some time we have our accident reconstruction team on the scene.

Obviously we have an extensive scene with what was struck in the debris field.

So we're going to be here into the majority of the night and in the morning.
