Police evacuate, surround Brazil hotel as suspect barricaded inside with a gun

Police are still negotiating with a suspect barricaded in a hotel room.

We first told you about it on news 10 midday.

Its all happening in clay county.at the best western plus hotel.

This is on state road 59 off of interstate 70.

Several agenices have been there since 10-15 this morning.

News 10's bri shackleford has been following this active situation all day.

She joins us live from the scene... with what has unfolded.

And where things are right now... rondrell... as you said i'm here near best western plus hotel in brazil.

Several police agencies are still here at the hotel.

They have been surrounding the hotel behind me for more than seven hours.

Here's what we know so far... indiana state police told me the u-s marshal's service tried to serve a warrant.

That when police say the suspect pointed a handgun at law enforcement officers.

Terre haute police chief shawn keen says that after officers announced their presence... a gun shot was fired through the door from the inside of the hotel room.

Officers evacuated all individuals that were inside of the hotel.

Earlier in the day... the suspect had two hostages in the room.

Those hostages both exited the hotel in the afternoon.

As of right now... negotiations with the suspect are still going on.
