First tonight: the city of rochester has selected its next city administrator.
Med city leaders have chosen alison zelms to direct city operations going forward.
Kimt news three's anthony monzon is live outside of rochester city hall with more on tonight's decision.

Katie... george... the rochester city council has voted unanimously to select alison zelms as the next city administrator.
It's a decision that will shape so much of what happens behind these doors here at city hall... with zelms overseeing hundreds of city employees and hundreds of millions of dollars worth of city budget.
Zelms is currently the deputy city manager in mankato... and has a long list of city government experience.
Here in rochester... she'll be charged with providing strategic leadership for city operations... carrying out the policies and ordinances of the city council... and directing the administrative functions of various city departments.
Council member michael wojcik says zelms is an outstanding choice... and her qualities as a tremendous leader and skilled professional made the difference when chosing the right candidate for "a couple of the traits that i think a lot of people picked up on is her ability to talk straight and make important decisions.
And then her incredible technical skills.
And i think a lot of the new council members were struck that this was a person who they thought they would a report with."
And the decision to appoint zelms was made collaborativel y between this year's city council and the four new members who will be joining next year's city council.
Zelms was city leaders' top choice out of 59 other applicants.

The city council has instructed staff to begin contract negotiations with zelms... with a contract expected to be voted on during next monday's city council session.
As Rochester Mayor Kim Norton wraps up her second year in office... she says she has some big goals for the year ahead.
