Rochester leaders are full of praise for their pick to be the next city administrator.

"* kimt news threes anthony monzon caught up with alison zelms. anthony... what did zelms tell you?

Xxx well katie and george... as you mentioned... city leaders are very excited about alison zelms. she earned the unanimous support of current and incoming city council members... who as we know... don't exactly always get along.

And tonight i can report zelms is very excited about rochester and working on behalf of the people who live here.

And that's great news for med city residents... because should zelms accept the position... she'll be responsible for carrying out the policies and ordinances of the city council.

That means putting the policies of candidates chosen by rochester voters into action.

And while much of a city admin's work is non?

"* ideological... zelms sas should everything fall into place contractually.

"my first priority, as i talk about a lot, is getting to know people and understanding what their priorities are, because my first priority is the city council and the city staff, to make sure that we keep moving in the right direction and keep that momentum going."

And zelms adds she's ready to bring her roughly two decades of local government experience to rochester... a community she says is fast?

"*paced and has a lot going on.

Of course... one defining challenge of zelm's first months will be managing a city budget that has been reduced by 17 percent from 2020.
