The role of the Indiana National Guard has changed several times throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

Earlier in the summer, they helped with testing in communities across the state.

Now they’re helping long term care facilities to slow the spread of COVID-19 within their walls.

Sergeant carlos aguilar out of greenfield has been at majestic care since early november.

He says his job may not involved being deployed overseas like he expected when he enlisted seven years ago, but still important.

When it comes to covid testing, i hand out their tests and put it awaye or them when they done.

Majestic care jefferson pointe director paul chaisson says these simple things are a big help to his staff.

Specially some of our admin staff that are having to keep track of people coming in, both coming and been able to do that to free up staff to do other things.

Role of the guard members may be small in some facilities, it a big help in battling covi something big, i never pictured it happening, but when you get the call, you e got to answer it.
