Chennai Customs department seized gold from a plane which had arrived from Dubai.
Gold, weighing 1.15kg and of 24k purity valued at Rs 59 lakh, was recovered.
Custom officials recovered two packets of gold concealed and wrapped with black adhesive tape.
Authorities said gold was recovered from beneath the cushion of one of the passenger seats.
On opening both the packets, gold in paste form was recovered.
