Good evening jason.

Sadly two people have died in this fire.

Oneida county sheriff rob maciol confirming that information.

As you can see, crews are still in scene.

I spoke with a couple firefighters who said because of the roof collapse, its harder to put out the hot spots..

The calls came in just before nine tonight for a fully involved structure fire.

When we arrived... there was billowing smoke and the roof had already collapsed.

New information in the last five minutes... due to the structure being unstable rome fire department members are still unable to enter the residence.

Sheriffs will provide more information along with the names of the deceased when identification has been confirmed.

Again, this is on route 69... just past the oriskany battle field near monument road.

And two confirmed fatalities.

The rome fire department is working to determine the cause and origin of the fire.

The sheriffs office is handling the overall investigation.

Oneida county sheriffs are asking that you continue to avoid the area because as you can see there are still multiple crews on scene.
