In the midst of his 28th season as the Colgate men's ice hockey coach, Don Vaughan has reached the 1,000 game plateau, and builds on his resume as Raiders' program wins leader.

Yesterday's game against r-i-t marked his 1,000th as a headoach -ll at the helm of the raiders program.

He's in the midst of his 28th season on the bench in hamilton - beginning his tenure in 1992.

During his 1,000 games - vaughan has amassed the most wins in raiders program history currently with 430 - has had six 20-win seasons - three n-c- a-a tournament berths and is a two- time ecac coach of the year.

This is certainly one of the - if not the most challenging year to date - due to the circumstances off the ice - but today i caught up with vaughan who said the mark is special all the same.

You get these milestones and att does igives me me to reect really you 't getthis mane without the support of so many people over a number of years and i've worked with some great administrations and i've had some unbelievable athletic directors and i think back to mark murphy who hired me and took a chance on a young assistant coach and i've worked again like i said with some great assistant coaches and i've had the opportunity to coach some of the finest human beings on the planet some of the players i've had over the years.

That's what i think about at moments ke thisi've beenery fortunate.

After tyinr-t yesterday afternoon - vaughan is hoping to notch win 431 in game 1,001 when they begin conference play against clarkson on friday.
