Trump Crossed the Line, and Social Media Giants Finally Took Action

OAKLAND -  The events of January 6 at the U.S. Capitol finally moved the tech platforms to suspend or ban Donald Trump.

It wasn't the first time the president incited violence, violating the terms of use.

Why now?

According to the Washington Post's tech reporter Nitasha Tiku, the ban emanated from several factors including advocating  a clear message of incitement.

A response to employee demands and the political climate in Washington where the tech giants have come under increased scrutiny.

Tiku, who reported the Trump Twitter ban story.

Says that options for regaining a social megaphone of substantial reach will be difficult.
