Red Bluff Spartans shut out Orland Trojans in season opener

Fans, coaches and players alike were excited to have football back as the Red Bluff Spartans faced off with the Orland Trojans.

18-0 tonight - players coaches and parents all excited to be back at it!

Carmela karcher was at the big game tonight she spoke with players and coaches about what it was like to be back after so long!

Carmela karcher: "football is back in orland as the red bluff spartans face off with the orland trojans."

The spartans had high hopes tonight as they attempted to overcome their winless season last year.

After celebrating the orland seniors on senior night& the spartans were explosive after scoring their first touchdown within the first seven minutes of the game.

Halfway through the second quarter&the ball launched down the field for a seamless touchdown by the spartans.

Just 5 minutes later&red bluff snuck through trojan defence to bring the score to 18 to 0.

The second half turned into a defensive game between the teams as no points were put up on the board.

Regardless of the outcome& parents and players were simply happy to be back on the field.

Blake smith/senior: "it was hard getting here.

We didn't have the amount of time we usually do so learning stuff that quickly, it was kinda hard but coming out here now, it's going to be super fun.

Can't wait."

Jared ellenberger/ parent: "it's amazing.

It's the way kids are supposed to be and what they are supposed to be doing.

It's good to see them back and busy again."

The spartans ended up shutting out the trojans 18-0.

The orland trojans are scheduled to face off the oroville tigers next friday.

As for the spartans...they will play against the foothill cougars in a week starting at 6pm.
