'Mamata showing legs in saree inappropriate': Dilip Ghosh defends bermuda remark

West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh defended his ‘wear bermuda’ remark on CM Mamata Banerjee.

Ghosh said that it is inappropriate for a woman to show her legs wearing a saree.

The BJP leader was speaking to the media in Kharagpur.

“She (Mamata) is our Chief Minister.

We expect her to act appropriately, befitting Bengal's culture.

A woman showing her legs in a saree is inappropriate.

I found it objectionable so I protested,” he said.

Ghosh had made the controversial remark while addressing a rally in Purulia on Tuesday.

He had said that Mamata should wear Bermuda shorts to show her plastered leg.

BJP and the ruling TMC are at loggerheads in poll-bound West Bengal.

Elections to the 294-member state Assembly will be held in eight phases starting March 27.

The final round of polling will take place on April 29, counting of votes on May 2.
