Spectacular mammatus clouds spotted above Chinese city
Spectacular mammatus clouds were spotted above a city in northwest China.
The rare scene, filmed in Ili Kazakh Autonomous Prefecture in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, shows the pouch-like clouds hanging in the sky.
Mammatus clouds are also known as breast clouds.
It's a cellular pattern of pouches hanging underneath the base of a cloud, which associates with hails and thunderstorms. The video was provided by local media with permission.
