Minister defends public order bill to increase police powers

Home Office minister Chris Philp has defended controversial plans to give police new powers to intervene in protests.

Speaking on Sunday, he said amendments to the Public Order Bill will allow police to take action before protests become highly disruptive to protect critical national infrastructure.
