NPR reports that the nation's largest movie theater chain made the announcement on Feb.

6.

The changes are part of AMC's Sightline initiative.

Value Sightline seats refer to the front row and will cost less.

Seats in the middle of the theater, Preferred Sightline seats, will be more expensive.

The rest of the theater will be referred to as Standard Sightline seats and will be standard admission price.

Sightline at AMC more closely aligns AMC's seat pricing approach to that of many other entertainment venues, offering experienced-based pricing and another way for moviegoers to find value at the movies, Eliot Hamlisch, AMC Executive Vice President, via statement.

AMC Stubs A-List members won't be charged extra for Preferred Sightline seats.

The new pricing plan will only apply to showtimes after 4 p.m.

$5 Discount Tuesdays will not be affected.

AMC intends to roll out Sightline pricing nationwide before the end of 2023
