Cuban biochemist Dayron Martin proudly observes his table full of squiggling silkworms. These silkworms, originally from Asia but thriving in Cuba, are spinning fine, white silk.

Martin hopes this silk will be crafted by Cuban artisans into dresses, blouses, shirts, and even cosmetics.
