Uttarakhand man gets life for setting married woman ablaze

In Chamoli, a 30-year-old man named Pavan Mishra has been sentenced to life imprisonment by the district and sessions judge for setting his 28-year-old neighbor, Pushpa Devi, on fire. The crime occurred on January 16, 2018, when Mishra, pressuring Pushpa Devi to leave her husband and marry him, poured kerosene on her and ignited it. Following the incident, Pushpa Devi was referred to Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi, where she succumbed to her injuries on March 6, 2018. Mishra was arrested on April 2, 2018, and was held in custody.
