Iraq, Egypt, Jordan plan broad cooperation ahead of three-way talks

(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BAGHDAD, March 29 (KUNA) - The foreign ministers of Iraq, Egypt and Jordan have agreed to deepen economic and political cooperation in the run-up to a forthcoming summit of the leaders of the three Arab countries.It is imperative to get the three countries on the same page over political matters on regional and international levels, including the Palestinian issue and the crises in Syria and Yemen, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein told a press conference alongside his Egyptian and Jordanian counterparts Sameh Shoukry and Ayman Al-Safadi.The ministers also agreed plans for more cooperation in several areas, which include healthcare, energy and agriculture, in addition to closer industrial links between the Hashemite Kingdom and Baghdad, he added.Ahead of the three-way talks in Baghdad, Shoukry said Cairo would contribute more towards reconstruction efforts in war-torn Iraq, while Al-Safadi vowed that Amman would "stand alongside Iraq" in this time of turmoil.The Jordanian and Egyptian foreign ministers arrived in the Iraqi capital on Sunday to prepare for the upcoming talks.
