Jordan records 50 COVID-19 fatalities, 4, 085 new cases on Wednesday-MoH

(MENAFN - Jordan News Agency) Amman, Apr. 14 (Petra)- The Ministry of Health announced 50 Covid-19 fatalities and 4,085 new cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Wednesday, bringing the death toll to 7,987 and the caseload to 676, 175.The statement added that there are currently 51, 092 cases on Wednesday countrywide.The new infections comprised 1,647 cases in the capital, Amman, 669 in Irbid, including 131 in the northern border district of Ramtha, 473 in Zarqa, 327 in Mafraq, 201 in Balqa, 159 in Karak, 132 in Madaba , 124 in Jerash, 112 in Tafielh, 100 in Ajloun, 97 in Aqaba, 44 in Ma'an, including 6 in the southern region of Petra, according to the media statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health.The number of patients who were admitted to hospitals today stood at 218, while 342 cases have recovered and discharged, the statement added.According to the briefing, the total number of recoveries recorded Wednesday, whether at hospitals or at home, stood at 6, 482 bringing the total to 617,096 since the outbreak began.Moreover, the number of Covid-19 patients still receiving treatment at hospitals countrywide has reached 2, 431.The statement also indicated that occupancy of ICU beds in the northern, central and southern regions, has has reached 68%, 61%, and 36%, respectively.With regard to testing, 32,296 tests were conducted Wednesday, 12.65 percent of which were positive.Since last March, the total number of tests administered has increased to 6,404,559, the joint statement noted.
