(MENAFN - Jordan News Agency) Amman, Apr. 18 (Petra)-The Ministry of Health announced 68 Covid-19 fatalities and 2,507 new cases were recorded in the Kingdom on Sunday, bringing the death toll to 8,246 and the caseload to 685, 973.The statement added that there are currently 39, 246 cases on Sunday countrywide.The new infections comprised 656 cases in the capital, Amman, 477 in Irbid, including 16 in the northern border district of Ramtha, 313 in Zarqa, 156 in Mafraq, 155 in Tafileh, 155 in Ajloun, 142 in Karak, 131 in Aqaba, 127 in Jerash, 92 in Balqa, 79 in in Madaba, 24 in Ma'an, , according to the media statement issued by the Prime Ministry and the Ministry of Health.The number of patients who were admitted to hospitals today stood at 229, while 224 cases have recovered and discharged, the statement added.According to the briefing, the total number of recoveries recorded Sunday, whether at hospitals or at home, stood at 6, 537 bringing the total to 638,481 since the outbreak began.Moreover, the number of Covid-19 patients still receiving treatment at hospitals countrywide has reached 2,197.The statement also indicated that occupancy of ICU beds in the northern, central and southern regions, has has reached 61%, 57%, and 38%, respectively.With regard to testing, 17, 846 tests were conducted Sunday, 14.05 percent of which were positive.Since last March, the total number of tests administered has increased to 6,477,564, the joint statement noted.
