11 dead, 98 injured in Egypt's train accident - health ministry

(MENAFN - Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, April 18 (KUNA) -- A train went off the track earlier Sunday in Egypt's Nile Delta city of Qalioubiya killing at least 11 passengers and injuring 98 others, according to the country's ministry of health.In a press statement, the ministry spokesman Khaled Mujahed noted that 14 of the injured people have been treated and discharged from hospitals.The residue are receiving medical treatment and care in several hospitals, he said, noting most of the wounded suffer from scars and bone breaks of different size, shape and severity.The Cairo-Mansoura train derailed in the town of Toukh in Qalioubiya and four of its carriages overturned, in the latest rail ordeal in Egypt.President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi tasked Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli to form a committee to investigate the latest incident, which came on the heels of a deadly train crash last month that left at least 20 people dead.
