Egypt: Train derailment leaves 11 passengers dead

(MENAFN) According to the Egyptian Health Ministry, on Sunday, Apr. 18 a train derailment in the Delta city of Toukh, north of Egypt's capital Cairo left 11 passengers as a minimum dead and another 98 injured. The ministry stated in a report that an overall of 60 ambulances have been dispatched to the site and the injured have been admitted to three public hospitals. The Egyptian Ministry of Transportation stated that the incident occurred after four carriages of the train, arriving from Cairo to the Delta city of Mansoura, derailed. President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi has demanded the development of a committee to put forward a report about the causes of the derailment.
